For the past 30 years, Lam & Associates has been involved in downtown development, economic development, human services, health care, the arts, youth causes, and issues affecting schools, neighborhoods, transportation and the environment.
Blaine and Bobbie have worked in volunteer and consulting capacities with more than 100 community agencies and organizations. The firm’s various roles in community development range from troubleshooting calls to Blaine’s 15-year stint as the community’s spokesperson on transportation issues and Bobbie’s 25-year volunteer affiliation with the USTA Boys Tennis Tournament.
Both Blaine and Bobbie have been extensively involved with the Kalamazoo Public Schools, health promotion initiatives and youth issues. Blaine has helped form a number of community organizations, including Leadership Kalamazoo, High on Heroes and Healthy Kalamazoo; he has led the reorganization of several nonprofit organizations as a volunteer; has served as interim executive director of the Kalamazoo County Chamber of Commerce twice, the Civic Theatre, the Kalamazoo County Convention & Visitors Bureau twice, the Borgess Foundation, Cheff Therapeutic Riding Center, Gryphon Place, the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo, Glass Art Kalamazoo, Michigan Foundation for the Blind & Visually Impaired, and Lakeside Treatment and Learning Center, and he served as interim administrator for the Kalamazoo County Circuit Court.
Blaine has managed any number of political campaigns, fund-raising campaigns and collaborative community projects and initiatives.
He is race director of the Borgess Run for the Health of It and the Kalamazoo Marathon.
